Golden Leica M6 series for environmental project in Thailand
700 Leica M6 cameras, plated with 24-carat gold and with a special
leather finish, and engraved with the special symbol of the golden
jubilee of the reign of His Majesty King Bhumiphol Adulyadej of Thailand
were made by the Leica Camera AG in Solms.
The reason for this
was the support for a large scale environmental project for Thailand´s
capital Bangkok initiated by King Bhumiphol to mark the occasion of the
50th anniversary of his coronation on 9th June 2001. This makes him the
longest-reigning monarch in the world. King Bhumipol has already shown
great commitment to campaigns to protect the environment in his country
in the past.
